We all love it! And when we want it, it is miraculously in our freezer – or the frozen food section of most stores. But, how did it get there? Join us for an exciting day as we plunge into how the ingredients of your pizza are produced! We will board a bus that will take us to a “wheat commodity” farm,
where wheat is grown and harvested – and then makes grain into flour that becomes our pizza crust. We will go to the Extension Office and talk with a local
vegetable grower, to see how our pizza toppings are grown and processed – from tomatoes to peppers, and onions. We will tour a local dairy, where milk is produced and transported to a cheese factory – where milk is turned into the delicious cheese for our pizzas. The day will include discussion, hands on activities and question and answer sessions, along with snacks, lunch.
